Components of a Refrigeration Unit
The installation of a Refrigeration Group is made up of a set of elements, including the following elements evaporator coils inside the chamber, constituting a closed refrigeration circuit through which the refrigerant circulates in order to condense the water vapor generated during each cooling cycle inside the chamber. camera.
In case the customer has a refrigeration unit, Moelco Levante will install evaporator coils inside the process chamber according to the refrigeration needs of the installation of a refrigeration unit.
In addition to the evaporator coils, the refrigeration system has the following elements:
- Expansion valveto regulate the injection of liquid refrigerant to the evaporator coils. The valves we use are Danfoss and Castel.

- Compressors. The compressor that is part of a refrigeration unit absorbs the refrigerant in gaseous form at low pressure and low temperature from the suction pipe coming from the evaporator coils and moves it by compressing it and raising its pressure and temperature to the discharge pipe where it will be directed to the condenser. Each compressor has high and low pressure safety limiters (high/low pressure switches) to prevent the compressors from exceeding the established working limits. The compressors we use are the best on the market: Bitzer and Copeland.

- Capacitor. The condenser is a heat exchanger in which the refrigerant vapors from the compressor are liquefied and the heat absorbed in the evaporator and the energy of the compressor is dissipated. In the condenser the refrigerant at high pressure and high temperature changes phase from gas to liquid.
- Oil distribution and recovery system. Oil plays an essential role in a refrigeration unit. It contributes to ensure the lubricación of the moving parts of the compressors and the evacuation heat due to the friction of these moving parts.
- Refrigerant storage system. The system is equipped with a refrigerant reservoir to compensate for variations in the volume of the refrigerant gas in the refrigeration system and to store the refrigerant gas for maintenance or repair work on the system. The tank is equipped with safety valves to protect it against high pressures, thus complying with the strict quality and safety requirements of the refrigeration plant.
- Refrigerant. Depending on the cooling capacity required for the installation, Moelco Levante works with high-safety HFC fluorinated gases and with amoniaco. It is recommended that for installations requiring a high cooling capacity, ammonia or an indirect cooling circuit be used. glycol-ammonia. Despite being a higher investment than with HFC gases, it is more profitable in the long term, in addition to the following advantages:
- It is compatible with the environment. It does not destroy the ozone layer and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
- It has superior thermodynamic properties, so ammonia refrigeration systems consume less electrical energy.
- Its characteristic odor makes it very safe, as it warns of leaks.
- The cost as a refrigerant is much lower than any other synthetic refrigerant.
